Senior Contracts Administrator

This position reports directly to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in administering the contract, provide also guidance on contract matters to other operational staff;
  • Draft contracts for engineering, procurement and construction works;
  • Monitor administration activities, coordinating with project staff to assure compliance with contract obligations and responsibilities;
  • Provide assistance with Owner’s Contracts (Nalcor- Muskrat Falls Corporation and all sub-contractors)
  • Draw up, in the event of amendments to the contract, the Contract Variation Report;
  • Identification, compilation, and quantification of Claims
  • Develop list of claims to be included in the “Claims Information Sheet”, takes care of its update and submits it to PM for approval;
  • Post documents on Aconex in accordance with document control procedures;
  • Develop and maintain all contemporary records and documentation relevant to potential changes;
  • Draft all project correspondence, change order request and claims and ensure that all communication, reply and request to the client are timely issued;
  • Ensure all contract checklists to be reviewed and approved by management prior to contract signature.
  • Process insurance requests as per regional procedures;
  • Draft subcontract agreements on the basis of standard forms, used by the Company, and adjusting the same to the specific contractual needs in collaboration with Project Manager (PM);
  • Take part in the selection, technical management and coordination of subcontractors to whom works have been entrusted;
  • Verify that technical and administrative data to and from suppliers and subcontractors are consistent and complete;
  • Filing of client contracts and sub-contracts documents including distribution of copies to other departments if required;
  • Prepare Contractual Correspondence for Project Managers and other Senior Site Management;
  • Prepare Change Requests and all related correspondence for submission to Nalcor;
  • Prepare estimates related to Change Requests submitted by Nalcor to Astaldi for budgeting purposes;
  • Co-ordination and co-operation with other commercial/contractual groups eg: Planning, Project Controls and Quantity Surveying;
  • When required, attending weekly co-ordination meetings and commercials meetings;
  • When required, attending commercial meeting with sub-contractors;
  • Serve as the point of contact for all contractor’s project departments with respect to contractual matters, ensuring a timely analysis and identification of potential variations;
  • Other responsibilities as required.

 

Knowledge and experience

  • BA/BS in related field or applicable discipline preferred, or equivalent years’ experience. Masters degree or professional certifications preferred.
  • More than 15 years as Contracts Manager, Project Manager or Construction Manager for major infrastructure and hydro power project.
  • Proven experience in contract analysis and management, evaluation and preparation of contracts, change order request and claims.
  • Advanced proficiency with applicable software applications, including Aconex.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical. Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical.
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to guide department personnel is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information is critical.

 

 

 

 

Working Conditions

 

Applicants must be willing to commit to a 14/7 days rotation on a 10 hour shift at the Muskrat Falls site which is located approximately 40kms from Happy Valley – Goose Bay, Labrador. Astaldi Canada offers accommodations and traveling expenses.
